Notes
Taking a hint from Boulez and Structures 1A, I made my own system of 12x12 matrices that would interact to form music. However, my source material is two interacting rhythms, one of which originated in a Kids in the Hall comedy sketch, "Feelyat!" (season 5, episode 1) The interaction between these two rhythms alone determines both the pitch and rhythm of the entire piece, the pitches residing in different whole-tone scales for each of the two voices in each of the three sections. The base pitches for each section are also derived from the interactions, in a somewhat contrived "I changed the criteria until I got numbers I thought I would like" manner. Nonetheless, they are consistent with each other, and all decisions were made before a single note went onto paper, so I had no real way of knowing what it would sound like until it was finished. So there!
This is an exploration of just one possible combination of all the factors. Other pieces of music could be just as easily created by changing various parameters, in which case the build version number would be incremented appropriately.
