About MostlyDifferent.com
MostlyDifferent.com is a "hooray for me" sort of website, and a reasonable thing for a music-type person to have, especially a composer-type person. Music is one of those realms where people being able to find out about you is an important thing. In the off chance that someone hears some of my music or reads about me somewhere and after that, for whatever reason, still wants to find out more about me, a bit of googlery will hopefully bring them to this page where interested parties can find out the really cool stuff, like how to get a hold of my music to play it, or how to get a hold of me to play their music.
The source for the logo up top is a single photo taken by a music teacher at a school where a quintet I belonged to was guest performing. Lined up just right, it looks like I'm playing both instruments. Unfortunately, (and much to the dismay of some parties which shall remain nameless) I am not proficient on bassoon, though that could change some day.
"Don't give the composer ideas..." comes from my tendency to try to make music out of anything and everything. If someone has a silly "hey, that sounds cool" idea around me, I'm prone to start writing it into music somewhere. Nothing is sacred. One of the pieces of music on my list (I'm not telling which one) is actually a program work that takes place entirely in a restroom.
I also have some ideas for T-Shirts that I might eventually try to sell through the site. They're fun ones, says a biased person with financial incentive to say something like that.
MostlyDifferent.com, in its current incarnation, is built on Drupal, a nice system for building a website that I highly recommend, and that I find more elegant than Joomla!, which the site previously ran on.
